Climate change and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are among the world's most pressing challenges. The Digital Climate Innovation (DCI) initiative addresses this challenge through innovative digital solutions such as Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), sensors, remote sensing and blockchain or ledgers.

Formerly known as the Climate Ledger Initiative (CLI), DCI focuses on implementing and scaling digital approaches with our partners in specific areas of climate action.

If six years is a long time in terms of the climate, it is an eon in technology. The Climate Ledger Initiative - now named Digital Climate Innovation - was founded in 2017. Reflecting on the past six years, a number of conclusions emerge.

CLI Report 2023

We are pleased to share the sixth edition of our annual report Navigating Digital Innovation for Climate Action. The report reflects on the milestones of the CLI since 2017 and presents new and previous use cases as well as ten lessons learned from their implementation. Finally, it provides an outlook on digital developments for climate action in the coming years.
